1989 Chevy Suburban – Chris T.
It all started when I sold my 1978 Jeep Cherokee for $4000 back in May of this year. I was in search of a 4 door 4×4 square body suburban to take my wife and 3 kids on camping and fishing adventures. I scoured craigslist for weeks in search of the perfect truck with no luck. Then one day I asked a buddy from work if he had seen any for sale. Being that he lives in San Antonio I figured that there is a better chance he would see one for sale. At first he said no but then her remembered that a few weeks before he had seen one on the side of a busy road on the far west side of San Antonio but he couldn’t remember where. so he actually went on google maps to where he though he had seen it. He went to the street view and found the name of the business he though it was in front of. We looked up the name and called them. Sure enough, that was it! I asked the guy to tell me about it and he said it was a 1989 with 48,000 original miles clean interior power everything and even ice cold AC. The previous owner blew the transmission and it sat in his driveway for years that’s how it got the patina. He said he put a new transmission in and just wanted to flip it. I asked him how much and he said $3500. It was exactly what I was looking for. So that day after work I took the hour drive over there and checked it out. I ended up talking the guy down to $3000 and drove it home that day. 3 weeks later i put a 4″ lift and 33/12.50’s with the extra $1000 I had from selling the Cherokee. This truck is my daily driver and a on going project that will stay in my family for many years to come.
