1983 GMC Sierra – Greg M.
I bought this truck in 1997 to use as a daily driver. It has been an ongoing project
ever since. I am an old school hot rodder so I wanted this truck to look and sit like
the cars I used to look at in the hot rod magazines. Low in the front, taller in the back,
Crager wheels with BFG tires.
It started out pretty much stock with a L6 motor and 3 speed stick. It now has
a 400 horse 350 and a modified turbo 350 automatic transmission. It has been
lowered 6 inches in the front and 8 inches in the back. The motor uses all the hotrod stuff from Holley, Hooker, Edelbrock and Crane.
Two years ago, it was parked on the street in front of my house when it was rear-ended
by some guy who fell asleep at the wheel. Totaling his car, my neighbor’s car and doing
severe damage to the truck. With a lot of help from my brother in law (and LMC) we took
everything down to the frame, repaired or replaced all of the damage and repainted it.
The wood in the bed was destroyed in the wreck so new wood was installed along with
all of the polished stainless bed strips and hardware.
The interior was gutted and all the metal repainted and LMC provided new door panels,
seat cushions, carpet, dash cover and new door and window gaskets.
It is no longer a daily driver but I do get out on the weekends and can be found at
car shows around the area.
