1979 Ford Ranger XLT-Ronald H.

These are pictures of my 1979 Ford Ranger XLT. The Truck was originally bought and owned by my grandfather, who passed away in 1983. Since my grandpa and I were very close, my Grandma pretty much gave me the truck after he died. I never drove the truck in the snow, but gramps did for 5 salty winters in the southern tier of N.Y. By the late 80″s it was showing a lot of rust in the usual problem areas , bed, fenders , frame ..ect . So I parked it behind my house vowing to restore Gramps ole truck Promptly. Well promptly turned into 20 years. Other needs and Financial obligations always came before fixing my ole truck. Even though sitting that long made things even worse, But It was my Grandpa’s truck and way to sentimental to me to get rid of . Finally, in 2010 I had the time, money and most importantly a garage I could work on it in. A friend of my family who restores classic vehicles told me to get a LMC Truck catalog. He said it would have all I need. Expecting to get a generic “maybe some of the parts will fit” catalog . I was thrilled to see the whole catalog was for my truck. Almost every part, nut and bolt was in there. In addition, the exploded views were very helpful in figuring which parts I needed and for reassembly. So armed with your catalog, no real time table and being pretty handy I set out to make Gramps and me proud of his ole truck again. I started with some of your box patch panels (shown), bed panels ,bumpers, radiator, grill, exhaust, mirrors, electronics , motor parts and too many other items to list. Almost all the items needed to restore this truck were in your catalog. And they all fit my truck. You guys are the greatest. You saved me countless hours of trying to find these specific parts. Without your catalog restoring the old truck and finding these parts would have been near impossible. .But now 5 years and countless hours after I started this labor of love resto. I am proud to show it off. Thank you for a great catalog. I still have more to go on it (mostly interior) And you have that also. When my LMC catalogs arrive I love to check out your cover with the readers rides.
