2012 GMC 2500HD Duramax – J Rex S.

I’ve always loved trucks of any shape or form, started out many years ago with a 1972 Ford F-250 4×4, but then we sold it for needs of the family. Some years later I built a 1986 1-ton dually out of 6 different wrecked trucks and a 1970 Buick GS that had been rear-ended by a cement truck! OUCH! The engine was a stage III 455c.i.d. with tri-power, plenty of horsepower! Great truck but it was destroyed in an accident by a high school girl changing her radio station, she should have died as she hit us head-on at about 50 mph! That’s when I got into Suburbans, well and because I was a scoutmaster. Started with the old GOON HAULERS 1990 that was built for Moab with a big block 502, Atlas crawler twin stick, Dana diffs, lifted 6″, 38″ Goodyear Wranglers, it was a great truck but wife hated it! (She couldn’t climb in it-SOLD IT!) Then I got the 1999 Suburban it’s now very cool because of LMC, Cowl-induction hood, Lights GALORE!, very cool grille, L.E.D. taillights, 18″ wheels with Big “O” bigfoot tires, everything is new or rebuilt except the engine. We tow an enclosed trailer with a 2012 Kawasaki Teryx side-by-side and it kills the poor old tired engine and mileage. We decided to upgrade trucks as we live in the mountains in Northern Utah, so along came a search for a diesel I wasn’t sure which one would be good as I was a heavy line mechanic for 30 years, drove a tractor-trailer, and an auto shop instructor for 19 years! We drove all of them and thought they would all do the job, but found the GMC/Chevrolet felt more comfortable for us!  We were on our way to look at a couple trucks and we stopped in a dealership looked around and drove a few, sat in a few and then we drove this big BLACK GMC from Canada and it fit like a glove! It’s got the Ultimate GPX interior Katzskin leather guts, heated/Air conditioned seats, bed cover, tinted windows, 35″ Dick Cepeks on 20″ MOTO wheels BLACK!, it’s chipped, 6″ exhaust, DPF removed, stage III injectors w/extreme fuel pump, No EGR, among other things, it’s amazing plus it gets 22.5 mpg highway and 14-18 towing. We loved to go out and get it muddy then clean it up, at least I do my wife doesn’t like getting out of it when it’s covered in mud so I go to the car wash before we go home, then I spend hours cleaning it. It’s beautiful when it’s all clean & shiny! I love, love, love LMC everything I’ve purchased from you guys is great for fit, looks, function, I haven’t decided on any new things that the truck needs but I’m sure there will be some new adds! I’ve got some good pics as soon as I figure out how to get them here, you’ll see what a great looking couple trucks we’ve got. We even have a 40 ft. Diesel pusher motorhome that’s got a 650 hp Cummins, we just added 30′ X 40′ pole barn to our existing 50’X40′ shed, but now we’ve been told that it’s a building because it can be seen by the space shuttle? Everyone says it’s very nice that we’ve got a place for everything inside, out of the weather, it has a second floor and a wood shop & sewing room (upholstery-quilting-all sorts of leather work). Yep, we’re spoiled!
