1969 Ford F250-David W.

Howdy folks (tips his hat)
My name is Pastor David Ward and I’ve been asked to share my story with you. Sit down… Grab a coffee and settle in for a long story.
It was 1989 and I was just a young man trying to find my way in the world. At that time and at that age I didn’t have much.
The only person in my life that i was “truly” close to was my Grandpa Earl Ashwood. He had raised me as my folks were divorced and mom worked nonstop to try and support us the best she could. My father was living somewhere up north at the time and I didn’t really know him that well. My Grandpa was my father to me as well as my best friend and many other things. I lived with grandpa and grandma from the age of 5 to 16
When I got the call that he had passed I lost it. 😭 I was a mess!!!
After things had settled down, I was given his old 1969 Ford F250 which I drove for about a year and a half. Well the truck broke down on me one day and at that time I couldn’t afford the towing bill much less the repairs so I ended up signing it over to the towing company.
I’d spent YEARS trying to find that old red truck again and had given up hope. Id started “collecting” old bump side trucks with the intention of taking good parts from each one and building a “tribute truck” in my Grandpas memory. Well, my mother found out about this and gave me a helping hand. I didn’t stop to think that the truck had once been in MY NAME so it was as simple as calling the DMV and tracking the VIN number down and paying they’re “extortion fee” then of course i find the phone number isn’t in Service any more so i start doing a “facebook search” which brought me to the owner who had it for sale!!! A great guy named Dylan. Anyways he sent me pics of the VIN and title and I matched them up to be sure it was right!!! It turns out his buddy’s grandpa had the truck for years and he ended up with it!!!
We pooled every penny we could get our hands on and went to South Dakota and got the truck. We just got home with him last night!!!
God is SOOOOOO GOOD!!! We have a family reunion coming up on June 11th and im PRAYING I can get it running and get breaks on it by then.
Ive also gotta give a HUGE shout out to Christina Cronin as “most” women would throw and absolute FIT if you told them you were taking the BILL money to go 2 states away to buy an old rusty truck.
I was ASTOUNDED when she said “go get your grandpas truck!” And then put every penny she had into it as well!!! (God I love that woman)
Its gonna take time to get the old truck in shape. Everything that’s rubber is rotted out including the tires. The straight 6 cyl motor needs a new carb as the original one is leaking fuel from every gasket the seat is trashed the dash pads a mess etc.. Soooooo…. Now I park “Earl” the truck in the barn until i can save some money to save him from rotting into dust.
I thought id share this story here as a testament to a mans love for his family and for the love of his truck.
