1954 Chevy-Ron L.

“Black Betty” Started life in New Mexico. My brother in law the 2nd owner rescued her from the desert and started to restore her. But as time when by. He lost interest. And the old girl sat in his garage idle for years. I always wanted the truck to do a resto-mod. In 2010 he sold me the truck. I flew out to NM and trailer her to my garage and began a 5 year frame off resto-mod. The first order of business was to strip it down to the original parts I would reuse. The frame, cab, hood and front fenders. I then upgrade the front and rear suspension with Chassis engineering components. And out fitted all 4 corners with modern brakes. The drivetrain was next with a GM performance Ram Jet 350, 4l60e trans mated with a Denny’s 4″ Aluminum driveshaft to a Currie 9″ rear with 389 gears. The engine was dressed with S&P components and Concept One serpentine setup. PRC built a custom aluminum radiator with shroud, fan, trans cooler and condenser to keep things cool. Exhaust flows thru S&P custom made headers mated to 2 1/2″ exhaust with H pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers. The entire system is ceramic coated. Fuel tank was fabricated by Docs Kustom tanks with an efi pump and is mounted under the bed floor to supply fuel via steel braided lines to the Ramjet 350. The ramjet is wired up with a Detail zone harness to keep things clean under the hood. Trans gets its power from a TCI ez tcu. And the chassis is wired with American auto wire harness. For the exterior. The bed is from Pros Pick. The rear fenders, running boards, splash aprons, grille, bumper, headlight trim, all the glass, weather stripping, hood strip, door handles are all LMC. The wheels are Billet Specialties Street lites with black accents. The interior features Dakota digital gauges. Lokar pedals and shifter. Retrosound radio. Old air products heat/ac unit. Unisteer tilt polished column. The upholstery: Door panels, handles, kick panels, carpet, headliner, seat covering, rear view mirror are LMC. I built the entire truck frame up by myself to a full running sheet metal fitted form. All exclusively thru mail order parts. Which LMC played a big role in making it happen with parts that can only be found in their vast inventory of parts. I then handed the truck off to Scott Landis who massaged the metal and made the body laser straight. Before shooting it with PPG 9700 black. This is my truck story. Sure I missed a few things. Thanks LMC for helping to make it happen with top notch parts and fast shipping.
