1965 Chevy C10-Donny J.
My father purchased in 1968, 3 years used in McAlester OK for $1,000. Original owner, from metal protector plate I still have, was Ray Chamberlin from Globe, AZ. I guess an Okie returning from California picked this up when returning back to Oklahoma. My older brother learned to drive in this truck when I was 12 but he decided he wanted a 1956 Chevy so my dad continued to drive to work for another 3 1/2 years until I turned 15 1/2 at which time I learned to drive in this truck and when my dad asked if I wanted it, I said yes. We painted red with new wheels, tires and interior and I drove all through high school and college. My wife of 35 years and I went on our first date in this truck. At the age of 28, with my first child on the way, I did a second restore, which was the first frame off. There were many modifications then with louvers and chrome parts made at that time, which remained for 25 years as we raised 3 daughters. After open heart surgery in Dec 2013 and my first two daughters getting married in March and June of 2014, it was again time for another frame off restore prior to my third daughter getting married. We finished the third restore in September 2015 and my third daughter was married in June 2016. My truck is now a 2016 LMC Goodguys Truck of the Year Finalist Late ( 1953-1972) and supports many LMC parts as we have created a family heirloom named The Buff. My high school mascot was the Buffalo and I drove my first vehicle all 4 years of high school and am still driving today.
