1983 Chevy Scottsdale – Frank A.

I bought my 1983 Chevy 350 four barrel short bed Scottsdale pickup new. A couple of years ago when my grandson Joshua was 6 years old and I was 71 years old, we decided to start restoring the truck because he liked it so much. Little by little we bought parts from LMC and have been working on it ever since. We have put on new mufflers, tailpipes, plug wires, plugs and valve cover gaskets. Then we decided on the chrome valve covers, chrome air cleaner, stainless steel overflow kit, chrome alternator, and chrome flex plate since Joshua loved how the shiny chrome looked under the hood. We also added the chrome grill and chrome headlight trim. We replaced the back bumper with a filler panel and rear roll pan. Then we had the truck sanded and painted. Once the outside looked new, we started working on the inside by installing new inside door panels, dash, carpet, seats, console and a new steering wheel. Then we installed new brake shoes and pads. For the last added touch Joshua picked out a new Chevy mirror, tires and rims that he liked.

I plan on giving this truck to Joshua on his 16th birthday. I hope he will pass it on to his children too one day.  About once a week, I will pick him up from school so we can ride home with the windows down and enjoy the truck. We always get compliments wherever we go. We have had many offers for the truck, but Joshua always says, “It is not for sale, but thanks.” I hope we enjoy it together for many more years. LMC has provided us with great parts to keep the truck running awesome and looking sharp just like we like it.
