1979 Ford Supercab-Koy V.
When I was a kid growing up I had a picture of my dad’s old 1979 ford black supercab f350 that he fully restored in 1997. I always wanted one. When I was 10 years old I had a dream of a 1979 ford supercab f350 but it wasn’t the one on the wall. It was my own version of it. In my dream it was a black and orange supercab that had a 5.9 12 valve cummins motor. I told my dad about my dream and he said I’ll make you a deal. The deal was he would pay for my first truck but I had to build it myself. After that I was on the hunt. I spotted my truck when I was 11 in a junk yard on my way to the movies. I told my dad about it and the guy wouldn’t sell. After many attempts of trying to buy it, finally after 3 years I got my dream truck. So there I was 14 years old doing my first restoration. Spent countless hours taking apart my first truck. Had it down to frame rails and 2 crossmembers in the whole truck. Nothing was left of it. Had all the body parts and frame sand blasted. I spent a lot of time with cab mounts and other object like that painting them orange making this truck a show truck. Spent thousands of dollars on LMC parts making this truck better then factory. In the summer of 2016 I was determined I was going to make a truck show in August. In June it was a complete chassis and a completely empty cab. The day before the show in August I finally got to drive my dream truck. Running off of no sleep I made my show. Finally finished my dream truck. It is a 1979 ford supercab completely original rust free body. I put kingpin Dana 60 front and a Dana 80 rear with 3:54 gears. A 1998 12 valve cummins engine making +500hp and a 5 speed transmission and a 205 transfercase. 14:10 spicer u-joints. Billet input shaft, dual disk clutch. New LMC grill shell, cab lights, carpet, tailgate, and a little bit of chrome. So here I am 17 years old now and I built my first truck. Now I’m going to go to a lot of shows with my truck and enjoy my restored 1979 ford. I call it the SuperFummins. If you want to see more pictures go to my Instagram @VanhornKustoms. Thank you LMC for providing me with so many new parts.
