1984 Chevy S10 – Dalton H.
| I remember having to wait and wait years for my truck. Of course, I found out this S10 was mine in 2008 when my brother didn’t want it and he got himself a Chevy Silverado Pickup. Back then the S10 was an old ratty piece of junk. We had to take out the motor to put in a new part. Eventually, we put a Chevy Small Block 305 back in the S10, the Nasty old motor that was put in years before. My and grandpa and I finally got the truck running years later. I remember the first time I ever drove it. My grandpa was already upset with me because I annoyed him so much just to drive that truck. The next time I went out to my grandparents, I started it up and I didn’t know how to put it in drive so I accidentally put it in reverse. We rolled back a little bit till I put my foot on the brake almost hitting the trash can in the Hangar where the S10 was stored. To my surprise, my grandpa didn’t get mad. He looked at me and showed me how to put in gear. I drove that truck for the very first time. Going down the runway was just an amazing feeling. My grandpa eventually painted the truck an awesome red and white. Interior was the last thing to do to that truck. By the end, every piece of the puzzle was done. Not a little bad S10. Then March 18, 2016, my grandpa passed away. It was very hard for me but I held it together and then I remembered I have the last car my grandpa ever restored and I felt very special about that. Not too long afterward I knew that the 305 motor in the S10 was older and didn’t have much time left. So I eventually changed out the engine on the truck right after my Junior year started in 2016. It was crazy being back out at my grandma’s house working on the S10. I put in a freshly rebuilt 350 with 305 heads along with a big cam. Still investing everything every little dollar into that truck. Even to this day though, when I get in my S10 I can always feel my Grandpa’s presence. I thank LMC for all the little parts I needed for the body of my S10. More things being done soon on the S10. |
