1991 Chevy C1500 – Michael R.
My dad bought this 1991 C1500 in 1995. I remember rides to high school, football practice, and many an errand. I learned how to drive, chauffeured my first date, and earned my first pay check with the C1500. After my dad gave it to me in 2000, it carried me to 2 college degrees and 6 internships in 5 states. I brought it to Texas to start a career, and have since gained a beautiful wife and daughter. In 2010, I figured it was time to fix a rusted cab corner; which inadvertently began a slow restoration!
All I really wanted to do was have the rusted-out cab corners replaced and the roof re-painted. But it turned out that a full paint job wasn’t that much more expensive. The only problem with my new paint job was that it made everything else on the truck look bad! So with the help of LMC Truck parts, I set out to fix that problem. I installed a new grill, headlight/taillight covers, chrome license plate holder, and fresh molding.
Next were chrome side view mirrors, chrome door and tailgate handle covers, and a stainless fuel door. I put in a dash cap, added an aftermarket radio, and installed sound deadening material. I also found a shop that was able to recondition the original wheels. Finishing visual touches included new 1500 and SIlverado logos, mud flaps, window and back glass shades, a bug guard, Chevy bowtie sill plates, an exhaust tip, and stainless fender trim. And to bring the “classic” into the 21st centrury, keyless entry and a back-up sensor!
