1967 Chevy C10 – Randy C
This 1971 C-10 truck came into my life in the spring of 1990. The story I got was that a mobile worker from somewhere around Cherokee GA. Was working in the Joliet IL. area when the truck experienced a mechanical issue and was traded off at an area dealer. It was patched up by the dealer and placed on the lot for sale. My father happened to spot it and ended up purchasing it. As soon as he brought it home I knew I had to have it. I was 20 years old and my dad and I were always messing around with cars, trucks and tractors. I had just finished a rebuild of a total I purchased from the salvage yard. It was sort of convenient that my little brother was starting to drive and was in need of a vehicle. Dad and I worked out a deal and the truck was mine. It was a blast! It was a weird blue so naturally, she was named “Old Blue” powered by an old tired 350 3 spd. on the floor with the old glass packs. It did a lot of odd jobs hauling items and cruising. My girlfriend (now wife of 25 years) and I went everywhere in it. In 1992 we pulled the tired 350 and replaced it with a better one I had obtained from the salvage yard. The trans was also upgraded to an M-20 4 spd. I had laying around. Power steering, power brakes and posi-trac was also added at this time. We continued to drive the truck over the next several years (summers only), but seemed to get used less and less as life got busy. Marriage, kids etc. if you know what I mean. A 1967 R/S S/S Camaro was purchased and restored. It became the new being it could handle four people. The truck sat alongside of the shop for a few years and in 2003 I decided it was time. I told my wife I needed 10K and six months to get it redone. I got the usual look. Well after 13 years and a hell of a lot more than 10K she is our little fun truck again. The kids are now grown and the Camaro is gone. We gave it a facelift to look like a 1967 since that is my favorite year. It is Velvet silver and has a handmade walnut bed that my buddy did for me. Oh and a little enhancement under the hood with a 498 BBC backed with a Tremic 5 spd. and rear end narrowed 8”. It now passes everything except a gas station. Thank you to all my buddies that helped me with this project and to LMC for all the Quality parts for this project. We still call her “Old Blue”.
