1987 Chevy Silverado – Jonathan P.
This truck was originally purchased brand new by my older brother right as he got out of high school. As I was still in high school it took all I had to purchase my first vehicle, which was a 1980 Pontiac Firebird. Until I had saved up enough money to purchase this car, $1800, I would ALWAYS pester my brother into allowing me to drive his truck out on a date for the weekend. With that being said, my wife and I would go out on dates in this truck and I felt like a king being able to take her out in such a nice vehicle. As the years went on the truck eventually became a “work” truck for my brother and father, who were homebuilders. Needless to say the truck took a pretty bad beating over the years! About 11 years ago I was at my mom and dad’s home visiting them and noticed the truck sitting out back. Although it looked pretty ragged I asked my dad if he ever drove it. He answered only occasionally. It was all dented up, right rear quarter panel was crushed from where he had been hit by another vehicle AND there were rats’ nests in the dash, PRETTY BAD! I asked him what he would take for it, since he had bought it from my brother, and he said “Give me $500 and it is yours.” I gave him the $500 and drove it home. Once I started tearing into this truck I couldn’t believe that I actually made it home that day. The whole front end was about to fall apart, again there were rats’ nests inside of the dash, seat was in tatters, muffler about to fall off, I could really go on. To make a long story short I completely tore the truck apart, not a frame off job, but did the best that I could do. I had a friend of mine who owns a paint and body shop take care of the body work and paint job, which turned out wonderful. All of the rest was up to me. I tried to reuse everything I could that came off the truck but there were things that were not reusable. This is where LMC Truck came in. Just about everything I had to purchase came from LMC and as you can see, in my opinion, turned out really well. This is the first vehicle I have ever restored and when you hear people say it only takes time and money, well they are exactly right BUT I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Now my wife and I are going out on dates again in a truck we used back in 1988-1990. She is ecstatic as to how it looks and how it turned out. I would like to thank you for the quality parts that you at LMC provide. You are truly a one stop shop for whatever you need in any restoration. Thanks and Semper Fi!
