1997 Chevy C1500 – Larry R.
I am the original owner of this 1997 Chevy with only 28,000 original miles. The reason I bought this truck was to tow my classic 1971 Chevy Camaro to and from car shows. I special ordered this truck with the towing package which included transmission and oil coolers which come in handy in Texas. I liked the originality of my Camaro and also wanted to keep my truck mostly original. The changes I have made are the Foose wheels, a stainless front grill with LED Parklights, a rear leaf spring drop shackle kit to lower the rear stance 2″, a hard bed lid, Flowmaster dual exhast, dual piston brake calipers and slotted rotors from Stainless Steel Brake Company (SSBC) and a Hypercharger programmer which really woke up the stock Vortec 350 and it also helps the 4L60E four speed automatic shift firmly. Lucky for me I ordered the positraction rear end, although I drive the truck like a grandpa most of the time. I also have QA1 adjustable shocks on all fours to help with the heavier wheel and tire combination. I am amazed at how well this truck rides and handles but the short wheelbase and polyurethane front sway bar bushings with the adjustable shocks really work on the shortbed. Inside is a Katskin seat kit with the inserts that match the gray interior. The double thread pattern also uses the same gray color. I didn’t think I would fall in love with my tow vehicle but now I like the 20 year old truck as well as anything in my garage.
