1957 Ford F100 – Sam Blanton

In 1960, my dad took mom and I to California in his black 1957 F100. In 1963 he traded it for a 1963 Chevy truck at Mallory’s Chevrolet in Weed, Ca. I retired in 2009 and in the spring of 2010 I decided to look for a old truck to haul firewood. The first post I saw was in the local Super Saver paper, so I went to see what it was like. When the owner opened the gate to his backyard, I recognized the old Black Ford that belonged to my dad. I remember that dad paid $1575.00 for the truck at Rodney Motors in Wiggins, Ms. I had to pay the second owner $400 for it and it turned out to be really rusted out, did not run and had flat tires. My dad got the best early years out of OLD Black. I had to winch the truck onto a flatbed trailer and I took it home and slowly started to fix her up.

I am not a body repairman, nor a welder. I started rebuilding OLD Black and had over 350 facebook friends following my every move. It took me 1575hrs just to get the bodywork done and when I got to 2500hrs, I had OLD Black back on the road. I drive her everywhere. My first car show away from home was over 300 miles one way and everything ran fine. I am still going to car shows and showing her off as much as I can because everyone likes it.  Thank you LMC for all the parts that you sell for these trucks. There are not many parts available on the aftermarket place for the 57-60 Ford F100. I had to repair and rebuild parts as I went.
