1959 Ford F100 – Dan G.
I bought the truck about 8 months ago sight unseen off craigslist from Auburn California and had it imported to Australia. Apparently, a fellow was selling it for a friend who had proceeded to remove the inline 6 and attempted to squeeze a 413 Chrysler RB engine in place of the i6. The truck wasn’t running or drivable when it turned up in Australia, the front left leaf pack was snapped in half and the right front engine mount and part of the x-member had been oxy cut out to make room for the 413’s oil filter.
Lots of parts were missing or broken. At this stage, I have just been saving money and ordering parts when I can (its expensive from Australia).
The 413 engine is coming out and a Y block will be taking its place, I have replaced the engine mount and repaired the x-member, now I’m just waiting on engine mounts headers and a few other bits and pieces to drop the engine in.
The stock front I beam axle was replaced with a 3inch dropped sids axle and the factory front brakes swapped out for a master power brakes disc brake conversion with the master cylinder. The rear drums have been completely rebuilt.
I’m hoping to have the truck on the road in 3 months, it will be no show car instead it will be just a daily driver giving me enjoyment every time I take her out.
