1981 Chevy C10 – Chase L.
My great grandma bought the truck brand new in 1981 and drove it until the middle 1990’s. She got older and couldn’t drive it anymore and parked it in the field and 20 years later I bought it for $1000. Me and my grandfather went on to strip the truck to the frame and begin the rebuild. We started with body work. We had to sand the entire frame by hand and then replaced the floor pans. Once we got done with body work I learned how to paint so I could spray it myself. I spent about 3 months spraying paint and then we started the reassembly of the truck. We got the bed and cab on then started wiring the cab and rear. We bought a 267 V8 out of a 79 El Camino and completely overhauled it in the shop and put it in the truck. About 6 months of assembly and tweaking we got it to run. It took exactly 3 years to the day to get it running and now I daily drive it to school as a 16 year old high school kid.
