1982 Chevy Silverado – Stephen B.

I have a 1982 1/2 ton 2WD C10 Silverado longbed with a 6.2L diesel engine. I got this pickup in 2003 from my uncle, the original owner. I drove the old rust bucket for many years until fuel started leaking from the driver’s side fuel tank and the engine burned as much oil as it was leaking. I liked the fact that my uncle ordered the Silverado with the towing package from the factory. It has an extra leaf spring in the rear suspension, 3/4 brake system, the largest radiator that could be stuffed into the engine compartment and duel fuel tanks. So the truck is a keeper and it was time for a restoration.

I gutted the truck inside and out. The 6.2L diesel engine and 700 auto transmission were rebuilt. I steam cleaned the engine compartment and frame. All parts were sandblasted or hand sanded , primed and painted. I welded in new rear quarter panels and driver’s side rocker panel. I had to replaced the passenger door and front fender. Both inner fender wells also needed replacement. I had the local body shop paint the exterior for me. And the final step was to complete the interior. I wanted to keep the truck as original to factory specks as I could.

Every part from bumper to bumper that could not be rebuilt or fabricated was replaced with new parts. That’s where LMC Truck came in. Everything from exhaust to interior. Kudos to all you guys and gals for all your help with parts and great service. Another old truck is still on road.
