1951 Chevy 3100 – Damon M.

My father purchased the truck in 1955 from the Soil Conservation Service of Texas. He drove it for many years while he was teaching High School in Killeen, Texas.
In the early 1970’s my father and mother moved to Austin, Texas. He gave the truck to my grandfather who lived in a little town called Trickham. My grandfather would drive it to the county store and to go fishing. My siblings and I rode many miles on the running boards and fender wells while my grandfather drove us to the local swimming holes and fishing spots.
In the late 70’s, after my grandfather died, my father towed the truck back to Austin and began to restore it for me. In 1982 my father completed the restoration and I drove during my High School years and several years thereafter. The truck began to be difficult to keep running so I parked in my father’s backyard in 1986.
In 2012 I towed the truck to my home in Oak Hill and began restoring it for my son. I completed the truck in late 2017. Fortunately my father was able to see and ride in the truck before his passing shortly thereafter.
My son is now 16 and has been driving the truck to school just as I did.
