1962 Chevy K10 4×4 – Bob J.

My uncle Karl had 1962 Chevrolet wrecker. I used to love going with him on wrecker calls when I was a kid. He built the truck from a 3/4 ton stepside pickup. I have pictures of it and just thought it was a tough looking truck. So I found a 1/2 ton short bed 4×4 about 10 years ago and completely restored it. I painted it red and white. I showed him pictures of it on his deathbed. He smiled and complemented me on the truck. He asked me if I remembered the red and white one he had. I said yes I did, I was 6 years old when he and my aunt brought my mom home with my sister in 1965 from the hospital in a snow storm, because my dad couldn’t get off work. I didn’t know that truck was also a 1962! I told him that’s why I painted it red and white because I remembered it but always thought it was a 1966.
