1972 Ford F-250 – John C.

This is my 1972 Ford F250 Camper Special. The truck has been in my family since it was new. Over the years it has come to be more like a family member then a truck. My Uncle bought it new 1972. When my Uncle passed away my Dad became the new owner. My Dad drove the truck until he passed away in 2000 and the truck was then left to me. Every family member has some type of memory of being in the truck. A lot of the memories were of riding in the bed going to the lake and spending the day on my Dads boat. My memories are plenty. My first date when I got my license was in that truck. My wife and I dated in the truck. By them time I got the truck in 2000 it was in bad shape. The motor was still running fairly well ( I blew the original 390 motor back in high school) but the rest of the truck was just rusted away. It actually should have just been hauled off to the junk yard but I just couldn’t let that happen. With a lot of help from LMC I slowly brought her back. It took me four years to rebuild her. After I rebuilt the truck my son drove it while in high school and like me, his first date when he got his driver’s license was in the truck. He even took it to his Prom. Actually I think my two daughters enjoy driving the truck as much as I do. The first time I drove the truck I was 13 years old on the back roads of Mississippi while on summer vacation. I am now 58 years old and I still enjoy driving as much as I did that very first time I got behind the wheel.
