1953 Chevrolet 3100 – Paul & Ryan B.
This is the history of “Babe.” She belonged to my stepfather, Fred, and was driven interchangeably by him with his other older car. He was a World War II veteran, and married my mother in 1990. He loves tinkering with old things and making them work. He took very good care of Babe. My oldest sister Sherry used Babe as a wedding vehicle in 1996.
From ’96-’06 she sat in a pole barn at Fred and Mom’s house. In 2006 my son and I asked for her, to get it running again and work on it to learn about vehicles. Then it sat in my garage until my youngest son son started pushing to get it moving. That was 2015/2016.
First we worked the brakes, then got it to a mechanic who replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump, and a bunch of stuff in the engine to get her running. We had some difficulty with fuel and the carburetor but added a line filter and remanufactured carburetor, and she’s been running great. I wish I could say we were going to restore her, but at this point I can’t. We’re trying to keep her as original as we can, we get a lot of comments about how good looking she is.[lmc_story_gallery]
