1965 Chevy C10 – Joe H.
I purchased my 65 about 25 years ago or so. Got it for $400, it was running but smoked liked a BBQ pit!!!! Truck was a one owner truck but was in rough shape. After bringing her home & going thru it, I realized it be years before I could get it to look & run the way I’d like it. During this time I was also caring for my mother who was getting up in age & showing signs of dementia. We’d go riding to the store or doctor appointments & she loved the old truck. Her advice of “it’s ok if it’s an old truck, it’s yours and paid for, & no one can take it from you”, stuck with me .
She’d encourage me to fix it. So with her blessings I did just that. It took several years to get it done. But with the help of L.M.C truck it made the transition a lot smoother. I had my motor rebuilt, transmission done, & the rest of mechanical up to par. As my mothers dementia got worse & she was having issues remembering me, I took her with me to the auto paint store . It was time to pick the color for my truck, so I did what any son would do for his mom & let her pick the color!!!!! As they brought out the choices, I had my fingers crossed that she wouldn’t pick a pink & brown, or green & violet!!!!!! She looked at all colors & with my surprise she chose 2 G.M colors, indigo blue and summit white for the roof, at her request. So with that being said, I had her sprayed to those colors.
My mother got to enjoy the truck like that for about a year, she then passed away after losing to alzheimer’s disease. I still have my truck & the memories of what she taught me. I recently freshened up her paint, in honor of her. On March 6, 2019 it will be 14 years since her passing, but I carry her spirit with me everyday. Thank you L.M.C for making it possible for my mother & me to have enjoyed the ride!!!!!!![lmc_story_gallery]
