1965 GMC 100 – Shannon O.

I bought the 1965 GMC step-side in 2006 and it has been a slow restoration. I have restored the truck in memory of my grandfather who had one just like it from 1967-1980. I was growing up in Childersburg, AL and the truck carried us to great adventures together. We were inseparable.

We went to our family farm, to discover forest trails and even to explore the city dump. I eventually grew old enough to learn to drive behind the wheel of the Big G. She was a reliable fixture of the family, but that particular truck was lost to history. So I when I found a restorable truck in 2006, I decided to acquire it as an alternative to the Big G.

Now this truck is fully restored and ready to make memories. (I added a cluster of train horns under the hood that make a “memorable” sound). The youngsters in our family love the truck and ask about her regularly.

If you are reading this, you already know that pickups are more than tools for accomplishing mundane tasks. They are part of the family. That’s why we need to “keep ’em on the road.”[lmc_story_gallery]
