1970 Ford F250 – David L.
Off To Prom In Country Style
On the family farm it’s important to have the right vehicle, for the right job, at the right time to get things done. At Kalcevic Farms in Bennett, Colorado, Asia Kalcevic has grown up around all the big equipment and has learned to drive anything on the place, especially during summer wheat harvest. No matter how big or small the rig, Asia can climb behind the wheel and get rolling.
So, when High School Prom came around, it’s little wonder that she wanted the right rig to take her and her date to the dance in real country style. Did she hire a Limo? Did she ask Dad for the family car? Did she go rent a flashy sports car? No, Asia asked Grandpa if she could borrow his 1970 Ford Pickup. As the traditional per-prom pictures illustrate, she and her truck were beautiful.
The 1970, (three quarter ton) Ford Custom was Grandpa’s work truck. Grandpa said that pickup was used for everything 40 years ago; hauling hay, building fence in the pasture, driving kids to school, or taking the family camping during summer vacation. It was the “workhorse”. All the kids in the family, including Asia’s Mom, got their first driving lesson in the old Ford. Grandpa say, “The Old Girl Was Part of the Family”.
After sitting in retirement on machinery row for many years, Grandpa decided he wanted to fix up his old friend, so with the help of a good body shop and an LMC Catalog the Old Ford came back to life and then proudly carried Asia and her date to Prom in real farm country style.[lmc_story_gallery]
