I painted the house for a couple that just inherited several properties and as I completed painting their home, they asked for a separate estimate to paint a three-car detached garage. As they open the garage doors up, there was a ’77 Dodge with a streaker over the cab camper on it. I showed Summit doozy as him towards the truck and what wonderful shape it was in, and as we start talking. I gave them a dollar figure for painting the garage. They mentioned that if I knew anybody interested in buying the truck as it was his grandpa’s. At that point, I told him I would paint the house, including all materials and labor, and trade for the truck and camper. They accepted the deal was done. The grandpa bought it brand new in 1977 for $5,667 and wrote down in the logbook of every oil change and every tuneup he’s ever done. At that point, the truck had 51,000 miles on it and that was in 1997. I painted the garage and drove away with the truck. It was incredible how well it drove – lots of power even having a camper on it (360 motor). I took it home and took the camper off. I drove it nearly every day for eight years. I took my family camping as often as we could. I then went to work for the government and was issued a company truck. Long story short, the Dodge just sat in my drive. Then I paid a storage unit to house it for the last five years. I just left the government and found myself in need of a truck again and that’s where we’re at today with me going on LMC trucks.com and ordering weatherstripping seals gaskets, sound dampening C covers, mirrors, etc. I just completed all the bodywork. I will soon have paint on it with brand new taillights marker lights, grille, bumpers, etc. Thanks to LMC.com – it’s going to make my dream come true of getting my truck back on the road quality parts great customer service and fast shipping. Thank you so much, Steve.
