My Old Dependable Ford
I’ve always had a pickup truck. I bought a brand new Silverado in 2014. I could barely get it in my garage. I got rid of it when it had 8,000 miles on it. I decided I wanted an old Ford pickup. I found one in the country that had been stored in a barn for over 20 years. It was a 1981 F100 short bed with 300 6 xxl and a 3 speed on the tree. It didn’t have hardly any rust at all but it had some dents from being banged around on the farm. I fixed all the dents and had the truck repainted. I proceeded to fix everything that was broke or in need of repair on the whole truck. I found all the parts I needed at LMC Truck.
When I finally got done with the truck, I wasn’t satisfied with it because I live in the Deep South and the truck did not have A/C. I sold it for a good price and started looking for another old Ford pickup that had A/C. I found a ’99 Ford extended vacation F150 that had ice cold air. The cab looked great but both bed side panels were dented beyond repair. I bought the truck and the more I drove it’ the more I liked it till finally’ I decided I was going to look for a new bed. I finally found a bed I wanted after looking for over a year. My truck had a 6.5’ style side bed and I decided I wanted a Flareside bed. I found one two hours from where I live and went and got it and took it straight to a buddy’s body shop. I have been restoring the bed to factory condition, sanding and making 3 small fiberglass repairs. The bed will soon be ready to paint to match my cab color, Amazon Green Metallic. I can’t wait to get the new bed on.
I really love my old Ford pickup, and wouldn’t trade it for a new one. I plan on driving this ’99 F150 till the wheels fall off. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
