1970 Chevy C10 – Austin W.
A Long Time Coming
This old pickup has been in my family ever since it was bought brand new in 1970. My grandfather’s dad assisted him in purchasing it as a work truck, right off the dealer lot. It came with factory A/C, factory power steering, heavy duty 4-wheel drum brakes, and a custom ‘gold’ interior.
My grandfather used this truck as a hauler and this truck certainly was one. In the early 70’s, not long after he had it, the factory engine was replaced with a 4 bolt main 400 small block. Sometime 25+ years ago, the truck’s engine finally gave up the ghost. As he had a 1991 K1500 and was soon to purchase my 2000 Silverado, he had no reason to fix this truck at the time. So, it was placed in a garage in 1995 and wasn’t touched since.
My grandfather passed in late 2018 and this was one of his final projects that he really never got to finish. About 2 weeks ago, it finally moved from its resting place and is finally getting its well-deserved spot back on the road.
A tremendous thanks to LMC Truck for making this process as easy and painless as possible.[lmc_story_gallery]
