1972 Chevy C10 – Preston S.

Story of My Dad’s Old Truck

Well, it’s a 1972 Chevy C10. My dad passed away when I was 3 years-old and my brothers held on to the truck. They gave me the truck to me when I was 13 years-old.

The tuck had a 383 and turb 350 when I got it but I pulled the motor out and put in another mild 350. I also rebuilt the trans and it had a 3:08 posi rear end from factory.

Well, now here it is a few more years later. I’m 18 and just replaced the motor again in 2019. I started the work in April and just now finished it May 31, 2019.  I put in a 454 bored .030 over to a 462, put in some pistons, a flat tappet cam, and a Holley double pumper 825 cc. I believe the wheel is in correct and should be somewhere in the 500hp range with my setup. I also replaced the trans and changed it from a turbo 350 to a turbo 400. I rebuilt it, put a shift kit in, and put a 3:42 posi rear end in the truck. I did an electric fuel pump along with electric fans and water pump.

Man, after all that, it’s one fun truck. Definitely way too much power then it needs but it’s nice.[lmc_story_gallery]
