1985 GMC 3500 – Robert B.
Bucket List
My story begins in September 1973. While driving to work, I passed the GMC Truck Center and saw the truck in the show room. I went in and was all over it – fell in love with the style and the look. Unfortunately, being young, no money, and no place to park a truck like that in the big city, I had to let it pass but the dream remained.
Fast forward to 2013 when my company closed its doors and I retired to the country. One day, I was in our small town and saw an old two-door GMC go by. It immediately brought back the dream of the truck I saw in 1973. That is the moment the journey began, and after four and a half years, and hundreds of trucks later, this one appeared online.
After looking at all the pictures, I contacted the owner, asking for more pictures. I took a chance and bought the truck sight-unseen, as-is, and it was more than halfway across the country. It would take several weeks to have the truck shipped from out West but when it finally arrived, the pictures had proved to not do it justice. It was so much better! It has 61,000 miles on it, the interior is almost mint, the frame looks like it has never seen winter, and the engine bay looks new.
The plan, with the help of LMC Truck Parts, is to refurbish/replace anything necessary to restore/maintain its factory appearance and to drive and enjoy it after all these years of wanting one.
