1986 Chevy M1031 – Robert K.
My M1031 Story
I am VP of the Renegades of Western New York, an affiliate of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. We have 27 members in our unit who own and restore military vehicles (MVs) from WWII to current military vehicles. We are made up of anybody who has a interest in military vehicles, veteran or non veteran. We support various groups such as the VVA, VFW, and Legion KIA Road March, among others. Our goal is to preserve the vehicles and educate the public.
My current favorite MV is a 1986 Chevy CUCV M1031 maintenance truck. It has approximately 12,000 original miles and is equipped with a 12K, 3 phase generator, and an air compressor. It comes in handy on our convoys. It has a 6.2 diesel, 400 auto trans, 203 TC, a locker in the rear, and LS in the front. It has a 12/24 volt electrical system. I always use LMC for various parts and they are great.
By the way, the Chevy CUCV is a very popular vehicle in the MV world. They made a M1009 Blazer, two pickups (M1008 and M1028), and the M1031 .We are busy from May through October with various events. Feel free to stop and chat with us at one of our events.[lmc_story_gallery]
