1984 Chevy K15 – Jamie W.
Uncle Ken’s 1984 Chevy
My Uncle Kenny Luebbe bought this 1984 Chevrolet 4×4 6.2L Diesel brand new in ’84 when I was 9 years old. My father got a twin to it in ’85 that was red/grey combo. I rode around during the summers in this pickup as a young child thought it was the coolest thing ever. My uncle traded it off in 1996 at a local dealership. Often wondered where it was. Then in 2015 I found it on an online farm auction site. Made a few calls to verify it and wow could not hardly believe it.
We got it back!!!! Started restoring it immediately complete with a low mileage crate 6.2L diesel out of a school van that was won on a raffle by local farmer. Rebuilt turbo 400 transmission. Then on to the body new sheet metal and a lot of parts from LMC and some old new stock parts we were lucky enough to come by. A lot of help from friends. We even found the guy that originally did the custom pinstripes back in ’84 and he came out and free handed them on again. He said he was a lot shakier than 33 years earlier but still did a great job. Unfortunately, Uncle Kenny had been Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and passed away before it was completed but will always have a part of his life to remember him by![lmc_story_gallery]
