1985 Chevy S10 Blazer – Stephen V.

1985 S-10 “Blizzard”

I purchased the truck in 1985 with 17 miles on it. Living in Wyoming, there is no salt but a lot of sand in the winters. So in 1990 with 120K on the odometer, I had the truck taken to a shop for a complete update, new glass, door and window rubber, suspension, ground effects and repaint, new interior etc. Since I was overseas, I was in no hurry and picked it up in 1993. Drove it to a few car shows and some Sunday drives, but wanted more power. Started a V8 swap in 1994 and had a 350 SBC Crate motor built which I installed myself after all the modifications to the engine bay were complete. I do not have a complete fabrication shop at home and once I got to the Air Conditioning and Pully systems and exhaust phase I put a cover on it.

Fast forward to this spring when I retired, I pulled it out from under the cover and shipped it to my brother in Minnesota who collects cars and has local custom shops who work on his cars. They asked me what I wanted and basically told them since I didn’t have a Typhoon, I was trying to make something that would be close to that although Chevrolet never built that option for the S-10. They came up with the “Blizzard” idea. They machined the emblems out of solid Brass and Powder coated the wheels and grill to match. Maybe it was a Minnesota thing cause they don’t have Typhoons up there!

Anyway after 25 years of sitting in my shop I have my old buddy back and plan on taking it to local shows here in Wisconsin, but it will be driven more now that I’m retired. LMC is helping me get the remaining bits and pieces I need to trim it out properly. I posted a few pictures of the orig, 1st restoration and final product.[lmc_story_gallery]
