Dads Old Truck
My dad has always worked hard to support his family. He worked in coal mines, bridge construction and road construction crews and was a local “shade tree mechanic” after work and on weekends all during my childhood. This truck was never mint condition he just worked hard to keep it running with the little money we had. The years went by quickly and his health and the trucks condition got worse as a result. He always talked about “fixing it up” but just doesn’t have the energy anymore.
My sons and I asked if we could take it and restore with him helping us along the way. It’s just as much about us spending time together as it is about the restoration. Our goal is to have the truck ready by the 4th of July parade so he can drive it around town with his grandsons. We pull it out of a field with flat tires, grass growing through the cab and bed and every bolt and nut rusted tight but some hard work, a lot of replacement parts, and God willing we will have “fixed up” and on the road in by July.[lmc_story_gallery]
