1987 Chevy Silverado – Jimmie G.
Here are photos of my 87 Silverado. It is the last of the “square” body and came equipped with the 350, throttle body engine. I bought the truck new in Feb 1987. From then until the end of 2000 I drove it 60 miles a day to work and back. It also took me all over the state of Texas while I was competing in the Texas Policer Rodeo Association.
The transmission had to be rebuilt at 316,000 miles, the engine at 319,000. I could not get rid of a truck that faithful, so I just retired it from daily use when I retired in Dec. 2000.
After fixing up the interior with a seat cover and headliner I had it painted and started entering it into classic auto shows. I have a room full of trophies and plaques. Recently I bought a new grille and hardware from LMC along with some door pockets. A few months ago LMC provided me an interior rear view mirror. All at very reasonable prices. As it sits now, with help from LMC “Old Red”, as I call her, is back like the day I bought her. The only thing not original is the radio, but I like my CDs.[lmc_story_gallery]
