1948 Ford F1 – Bill & Linda P.
Resto Mod Truck
After a year long search for my first project, my brother found a 1948 F-1 only 70 miles away. I was the first one to look at the truck. An immediate friendship began with owner Joe. I think he sensed that I would finish the project. He wanted me to have it and I knew I had to have it. Sold! Joe started the project 18 years ago and after a couple of years circumstances caused the project to be shelved, but only after he had accumulated a truckload of parts. I worked on the truck for about two years. LMC Truck was my major supplier. They made me recall a day when the customer was always right. My criteria for the build was that it look mostly like it did in 1948, be all steel and all Ford. The body is a 1948 F-1, the chassis is a 1995 Ford Ranger, and the drive train was from a 1979 F-150. It has a 6.6 liter(400 cu.in.) engine with a C6 tranny and a 3.73 differential: all rebuilt with all available upgrades. The Ranger chassis provided power steering and brakes and great suspension. The truck drives great and yes, it is fast! All of the work was done by Joe and me except the paint which was done by master painter, Ricky Roach, and the Magnaflow exhaust. I want to thank God for good health, Joe for all the good stuff, and my family for their encouragement and being there for all the heavy lifting.[lmc_story_gallery]
