1966 Ford F100 – Marty W.

I fell in love with my neighbor’s 1966 Ford F100 when I was a kid in rural northern Missouri in the 1980’s. Hoppy had brought to life the old shortbed farm truck with a custom paint job, aluminum mag wheels, and a rebuilt 429 V8 engine with dual headers and glasspacks. I was captivated by the look and sound of the truck. When I turned 16 years old in 1987, I caught Hoppy in a weak moment when he agreed to sell me the ‘66. He joked the power steering appeared broken because my girlfriend Beck would sit so close, he thought she must have been helping me drive. That girlfriend became my wife in 1994 and we drove the truck on our wedding day. The next morning, I parked the ‘66 in a barn on the family farm, then Beck and I left for graduate school. Over the next 24 years, we launched our careers, started a family, and moved with opportunities. About once a year, we’d return to fire up the truck and drive it around the barnyard. As time went by, neglect began to take a toll on the ‘66. Two years ago our teenage sons and I hauled it to our home in central Illinois. With the help of our uncle Gary and LMC Truck, we’ve brought the ‘66 back to life again. When we take it for a weekly drive, Beck sits next to me just like 33 years ago. I’m happy to say: I’ve still got my girl, and I’ve still got my truck![lmc_story_gallery]
