My Classic Ice Cream Truck
Throughout the years I have always wanted an antique vehicle and also had a dream of opening an ice cream shop. I was always surfing the web looking at antique vehicles or watching the car shows on TV. Then one day I happened to see a Good Humor Ice Cream Truck on line and that’s when I had an Aha’ moment that I could own an antique truck and be an ice cream man, better yet a “Good Humor Ice Cream Man”.
My friend eventually found my truck in Connecticut and it needed a lot of work. We hired a local restoration company Presto Resto in Southern Maine who did essentially a ground up restoration. The original 240 CI was replace with a 300 CI straight 6 engine. I spent many hours looking through the LMC Catalogues and talking with the LMC customer service representatives who assisted me in purchasing many parts I needed throughout the restoration. The truck was completed in 21 months and it’s first introduction to the public was at a car show where it took Spectators Choice first prize award.
I enjoy driving my Good Humor Ice Cream Truck to car shows, parties and special events. The truck brings smiles to everyone especially when I ring the original bells. The resulting joy of this restoration project made it all worth the journey and gives me great pride in restoring a true piece of Americana.
Best Regards
