1980 Chevy K15 – Darren B.
Farm Truck Lives On
My uncle Moe, who was my dad’s best friend until his passing, bought this 1980 sierra classic brand new in Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1980. Having a 4×4 pickup was a big deal in our little farming community and it was definitely a work horse. It was used on his farm every day of its life, until he died in 2013. The truck sat, unwanted by family or friends for about a year, until it was given to my father and I to use on the farm. At first it was nothing more than a water hauler and workhorse, and little more than a painful reminder to me. After six years of sitting in my yard, collecting bird poop and tree sap, and being used once or twice a week for a few minutes, I decided to take it on as a fix-up project, and primary use pickup. Since then it’s gotten new tires, a rebuilt engine, new seat, windshield, a visor, major service and overhaul of the entire brake system and drivetrain, LOTS of cleaning, and a fairly long list of “little things” fixed or replaced, like light bulbs, loose wires, you name it. The more I fix, the more I love this beat up old farm truck, and now I can’t imagine my life without it. “Big Moe” lives on and goes on to make new memories and do more jobs, thanks to companies like LMC, Summit Racing, Rockauto, and local mechanics who know all there is to know about a small block GM V8![lmc_story_gallery]
