1990 GMC Jimmy – Curtis B.

Jimmy Found in Garage

I bought this truck six years ago when I turned 18. It had been sitting in a garage for 8 years when my dad found it while working at a man’s house. He was the original owner and agreed to sell it to me for $1,000 as it needed quite a bit of work. The truck was all original including the factory 350 motor with only 110,000 miles on it.

With the help of my dad and his buddy who is a mechanic and owns an auto body shop, we worked together to put this truck back on the road. The body needed rockers, floor pans, and rear fender patches but overall was a very solid truck and still has the original paint. We replaced almost all mechanical parts underneath from u-joints to tie rods and brakes. A big thanks to LMC truck and the countless parts ordered from them!

The truck is still a work in progress, and I continue working on it every year. In the past few years, we added the 4 inch lift kit and bigger tires. I also put the new soft top on which makes for the best summer truck.

There’s always more work to be done, and next I will be replacing the driver’s door, touching up some dents and paint, and replacing a few cosmetic interior pieces such as the cracked dashboard. I plan to keep this truck for the next 50 years and pass it on to my kids some day![lmc_story_gallery]
