1956 Chevy 3100 – Allen B.
The Story of Seabreeze
When I was a teenager, I was driving with my mom we she spotted a 56 BBW in a very retro green with white roof. She was quite excited to see this truck as it reminded her of a truck from when she was younger. I never forgot that truck, and when I seen one very similar on Craigslist, I had to have it.
I went to look at her, and was amazed to find that it had zero rust. The fellow I bought it from had recently picked it up in Grass Valley CA, brought it back to Canada and began restoration. He took it apart and installed a Camaro front clip, 305 TB engine, etc. he put it back together without painting. When I saw that it was rust free, I had to buy it, and there started the journey.
I stripped it down and sandblasted everything. I put a rollerized 400 in it with a T350 trans. Seat from an 86 Silverado, replaced almost everything with new, gas tank under frame, put the battery under frame, etc. It took me 11 years of work, I mean love, and have finally finished it. I built the entire truck in a 14′ x 20′ garage, including paint. It was challenging to say the least. I went with the original 56 color combo of Pinecrest Green and India Ivory White.
I have fixed up many trucks and cars, but never a complete rebuild. I find it very satisfying to drive, it just feels different that my other vehicles over the years, this one is very special to me. My wife Cheryl and I named her Seabreeze.
I did some research when I started, and I got a lot of great reviews about LMC. I ended up buying 90% of everything on the truck from LMC, their prices were great, delivery quick, and I never has a single problem with any of my orders. All of the parts were high quality. LMC definitely helped me make this project a success. Cheers! Allen[lmc_story_gallery]
