Long Term Project

I was looking for a short, wide box 1964-1966 Chevy pickup and ran across this one. It was fairly straight but suffering from rust in many places. After buying it, I found my legs getting wet if I drove it in the rain!
I decided a frame off restoration was in order. I carefully took it apart, bolt by bolt, and began a 20 year project.
As the work progressed I relied on LMC Truck to supply the new parts almost exclusively. From floorboard panels, under door rocker panels, and new front fenders LMC was able to replace all I needed.
What was born as a basic utility truck with a 230 six cylinder with a 3 speed column shift morphed into today’s version. It now has a 283 V-8 coupled with a Borg-Warner T-5 salvaged from a Camaro. The 5 speed transmission allows freeway speed driving without excessive RPM.
After going over every nut, bolt, and washer on a wire wheel I began the re-assembly process. LMC supplied new springs, shocks, and all other under carriage parts needed. The truck is now equipped with 4 wheel disc brakes, a sore spot in older vehicles. As a kid I had a 1968 RS/SS Camaro. It was Matador red, a color I liked. So when it came time to paint I used the Matador red with Arctic white and painted the the inside the original Chevrolet tan inside. I also carpeted the interior rather than the original rubber mats.
It has been a labor of love and a return to my teen years. In the end, I have a brand new 1964 Chevrolet pickup that is fun to drive and will last for many years to come. I want to thank LMC for supplying everything I needed to make my dream become a reality.
