Jessie the Wild Ranger – 1992 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab 4.0L V6 OHV

This truck has been in my family since I was born.  My uncle bought her brand new off the lot in 1992 a few months after I was born.  All my life growing up he told me, “One of these days I am going to give this truck to you, when the time is right.”  I loved that truck growing up.  She took me, my brother, and cousins on many camping, fishing, and road trips throughout the years.  In the summer of 2010, my uncle passed away from a heart attack, and sure enough he left me that Ranger in his will.  I named her Jessie after the main character in one of my favorite books growing up – Downriver by Will Hobbs – for her spirit of adventure and the wildness she keeps alive in my heart.

I have been driving her for 11 years now, piecing her back together by repairing, upgrading and maintaining all the vital systems to keep her on and off road!  So far I have rebuilt the entire front end including ball joints, all steering linkage, u-joints, radius arms and bushings, pivot axle bushings, sway bar, links and bushings, all front braking components, axle seals, floating bearing assemblies, and upgraded to Warn Manual locking hubs.  I have had the rear shock mounts re-welded and replaced all four shocks, rebuilt the rear differential with new bearings and seals, installed all new drum brake components including the cylinders, lines, proportioning valve and rear anti-lock sensor.  I have diagnosed and replaced the entire mechanical and electrical components of the air conditioning system, replaced thermostat, water pump, all hoses, and the radiator.  I replaced maintenance items and the coil on the ignition system, new battery, starter, and alternator.  I have replaced numerous interior components including the door cables and handles, upgraded all interior lights to LED bulbs (including the dashboard!), I upgraded my headlights to LED’s (wow the difference in visibility!), re-soldered the anti-slosh module in the dash for the fuel system, replaced the filler neck, fuel pump and filter, repaired the connectors and part of the wiring harness for the fuel injectors; hardwired a multi-port charging station that I installed on the dashboard and hardwired my grandfathers CB radio system; custom repaired the parking brake assembly; and last but not least I have chased every other electrical issue and repaired all of my spools and any connectors I have been able to find (mostly through LMC YTruck!).  I have yet to find a replacement part for the 4×4 switch connector, and I still have a few more drive train systems to replace/rebuild (hydraulic steering components and rear suspension system overhaul, the engine replacement and transmission rebuild will happen later) before I begin on the beautification process.

I have relied on LMC Truck over the years to supply me with the specialty parts, interior pieces, electrical parts, and rare find components I can’t find anywhere else and I am eternally grateful.  Next big purchase is going to be the rear windshield, door glass, tracks, remote door locks, door latches (when I can find them), door mirrors, front and rear bumpers, a new valence with LED fog lights and a stock switch, headlight and brake light casings, and the exhaust system (hoping to get Hedman Hedders, a magna-flow cat, and the LMC dual cat-back exhaust!)

Thank you LMC Truck for being the people to help me keep my dream truck running and my Uncle’s legacy of outdoor off-road adventuring combined with classic and timeless style alive and thriving. You will never know how much it means to me.
