The Daddy Mac

My grandfather, “Daddy Mac”, bought this 1993 GMC Sonoma SLE new from Northlake Auto Mall Pontiac/GMC/Oldsmobile in June of that year just as the “new and improved” 1994 Gen2 was arriving on the lot.  I asked him why he didn’t buy the new Gen2 version and he said, “It looked more like a car than a truck and the mirrors looked like Micky Mouse ears.  I want my truck to look like a truck!  Aerodynamic as a block of wood!”  Well… I had to ask. Haha!

It has been garage kept since day one.  He passed away in 2003 and since being his only grandson, it was left to me.  In honor of him, I named it “The Daddy Mac”.  It only had 35K miles at that time but over the years, LMC Truck has help me keep it in tip-top shape and make some improvements along the way.  The engine is a 4.3-Z Vortec V6 with balance shafts and an Edelbrock 1000cfm air intake coupled with a cowl inducted hood.  It also has a 3” dual exhaust system with no mufflers and stainless steel blaster tips for a nice rumble sound.  It was my daily driver until 2014.  Now I just take it to the occasional car show or cruise-in during the summer.  As the years pass, I see fewer and fewer of these S Series Gen1s but with LMC by my side, “The Daddy Mac” will have many more years on the road.
