1975 Ford F100 – Michael J.
Ever since I was 18, I wanted to build a 1970s short bed Ford truck ’73 to ’79 body style. When I was 16, I bought my dad‘s 1973 F100 long bed. In my early 20s, I got married and had kids, started a job as an elevator repair man to volunteer fireman. I was busy with the elevator company and being a fireman and then having two kids over the next 20 years. I never had time to do a complete build like I wanted to.
My son Joseph, now 32, and daughter Brittney, 30, told me two years ago to get off my butt and do what I wanted to do for the last 40 years. Joe called me one weekend and said he met this gal Becky from LMC Truck that could supply me with all the cool parts I needed to rebuild the truck. So I started the hunt, looking for a truck. I could not find one in my area so my son found one on his side of the mountains. A week later it was in my driveway. I drove the truck a mile for a test drive then pulled it in my garage and pulled it apart piece by piece documenting every part from the catalog of LMC Truck so I could get the right parts when I put it back together. 90% of the parts I used were from the LMC Truck catalog. I put in a 500 hp 450 foot pound torque 302 engine stroke two or 347 for the power plant. Every month was like Christmas as boxes came from LMC Truck. I took the body and frame all the way down to bare metal, powder coated it, put everything back together with all brand new nuts bolts and screws and clips. I did all the rough bodywork myself and had a young man do the final bodywork and the paint. The underside is done in bedliner material the same color as the outside which is Ferrari red. I got done with the truck in June 2021 and took it to two shows and both shows I got outstanding awards.
Thank you Becky and LMC people for making my truck build so fun and much easier. Thank you for letting me share my story. I have finally finished my dream truck.
