I bought this truck at the end of last summer after it caught my eye on Facebook Marketplace.  I remember when I was around 9 yrs old my grandpa had 2 of these square body pickups.  One was a 1985 C10 2wd long bed, and the other was a 3/4 ton 2wd long bed.  The 3/4 ton truck was his everyday driver and I always remember it looking like a brand new truck as he always took very good care of his vehicles.  I remember after he had retired from GM he would take me to school in it every day and I always just really liked the truck.  That would lead to me getting this one to build.  It would just remind me of all the great memories we had in his. I really wanted to take my time and do a ground up build and go into this C10 with a game plan.

So after a few days of planning and researching, I was ready to get started.  My first stop was the LMC Truck parts catalog, and a notebook to get all my part numbers.  As we all know LMC Truck sells the nicest quality parts that fit like they should, and their customer service is second to none.

And now it was time to get building.  I started by pulling the tired 305 tbi motor and trans, and found me a 5.3 LS out of a 2001 silverado along with the 4l60e trans.  After a lot of motor mods and alot of cleaning, sanding, and painting of the engine bay, in went the LS swap.  Now it was on; it became a huge snowball.  Another 4 or 5 orders with LMC, it became a restore/pro touring build.  I pulled the cab, bed,  and dog house of the frame to clean and prepare the frame for paint.  From there I began lowering the truck and then added front and rear sway bars along with tubular upper and lower control arms with Viking double adjustable coilovers in the front.  Next was a Wilwood big brake kit 6 piston front and 4 piston rear along with 14 inch 2 piece rotors all around and finished off with their pro aluminum knuckles with modern hub assembly upgrade.  All stainless brake lines, all stainless exhaust, 3.73 gear with tru-track diff, Dakota VHX gauge cluster, Borgeson quick ratio steering box, Jeep Cherokee steering shaft upgrade, TMI bucket seats and console, all the stainless trim, moldings, bumpers, and interior.  It was about every other piece for the truck that LMC offers.

All said and done, I now call it my Vette with a bed!  I love this truck and its so fun to drive and remember all the good times from my grandpa’s.  And as with any project truck, its never really done.  I already have more plans for it in the future.

I want to give a huge thanks to LMC Truck for helping me and all the guys and gals with a passion for these old trucks to relive our great memories and for helping us keep them on the road!!!!!
