One Truck and the Road
This truck has been in my family for generations, you wouldn’t think a girl would ask for a rusted truck that couldn’t even crank to be her first vehicle for her 16th birthday. I saw everyone getting brand new cars for there birthday. I started thinking I didn’t want to be like everyone else, I wanted something that made everyone look. Also loud enough that you can hear it coming from a mile away. So I looked at my dad and said I want that truck that’s sitting outside. He gave me a funny look and said are you sure, a lot of work has to be done to that truck. But I was determined that I wanted that to be my first vehicle. We started looking for parts in the LMC magazine and circled everything we needed to make this happen. We drove hours to get parts and went to junk yards to find everything we needed. This truck used to be a farm truck, it hauled tobacco and many other crops. It used to be a long bed but we cut the frame to make it a short bed so it would be easier for me to drive around. We made a lot of memories restoring it, Even blood sweat and tears were put into it. Without my dad I wouldn’t be driving it today. Finally we finished restoring it my senior year. I got to drive it to school for a couple weeks. until one morning I was on my way to school I pulled out to get on the highway and a truck t-boned me on the driver side. They were going over 60mph. The first thing I did was look at the truck and I thought it was gone for sure. I called my dad and he got there in less than 5 minutes and his work is 30 minutes away. He didn’t care about the truck he just wanted to make sure I was okay. We restored the driver side and I’m driving it today. I’m thankful that me and my dad made so many memories, good and bad. I thank God every day that I have something so meaningful to call my own. Thank you dad for my dream truck. I love you!
