This truck has been part of the family since June of 1987. It was one of the first that Pallone Chevrolet in northern Virginia got in stock. One of the early releases of the new body style. This 1988 Silverado with a 5.7 small block and automatic transmission has been in the family ever since. This truck has all of the options available at that time. The truck has over 215,000 miles and still runs like a fine-tuned machine. These were not easy miles either. For several years this 1500 two-wheel drive truck towed a 26-foot enclosed trailer with our drag car inside. It has towed race cars to Kentucky and back. It has moved too many family members to count. It has taken over 200 trips to the flower and garden stores. In 2020 we started the restoration process. The bed was rusting so those were fixed with LMC panels. We replaced doors, fenders, bumpers, tailgate, grille, lights and trim using LMC parts. Stripped all the old paint and repaired hail damage on the hood. Primed and blocked three times. We used the 2022 GM Red Tint Coat as the color. The black is GM black and matches the original paint scheme. The truck was originally the two tone as seen, with a similar maroon as the original color. After paint and body, we sent the seat to be re upholstered. GS Upholstery in Glen Burnie did the seat and headliner. The wheels, center caps and trim rings are original. They had been in the garage for 30 some years as we replaced them with custom wheels not long after we got the truck. The front and rear lights are LED. The rear name plate is from LMC. The air cleaner is painted to match the outside of the truck. This truck is a part and will always be a part of the family. Between father, son and son-in-law helping to restore this classic truck, it will always be a family truck.
