1958 Ford F100 – Chris B.
When I bought the truck, it had a Crown Vic front end and newer V8, although much was needed to get it where it is now. I was able to source many items from LMC Truck such as in frame fuel tank, rear anti-sway bar, door panels, switches, gaskets, weather stripping, etc…
The suspension was upgraded with Fat Man narrowed tubular control arms to reduce hub-to-hub. The factory original 9″ rear end with 3.70 gear is still in place, but lowered. QA 1 shocks were added all around to achieve ride height and further improve ride and handling. The mechanical fan was removed and replaced with dual electric fans mounted to a custom shroud and the carburetor was changed – all to increase HP. Chrome alternator, water pump, fuel pump and power steering pump to dress it up. Hose Candy on coolant and vacuum lines completes it. The seat was recovered with Red and Gray leather and Dakota Digital gauges provide all critical info. The bed had been repaired in places with flat metal instead of corrugated metal, so I used Black Walnut from a tree in my front yard, making it special.
The exterior was dusted with a dry spray gray primer and very lack luster when I got it. Rather than spraying with clear as is commonly done, I took the more manual route – 7 rounds of water sanding (280 thru 2000), 3 rounds of compound buff, and 1 round of wax to finish it out to give a polished patina survivor look. Many have said “It looks great with the clear”, or “I like the clear”. My response is “That’s not clear – that my friend is elbow grease”. Rare is the occasion I drive it and don’t get at least one compliment.
Thanks to LMC for having critical parts I needed to make this project come through.
The truck and I are the same age… we both have a few squeaks and rattles but still going strong!
