1979 Chevy K5 – Norman C.

The Blazer was for sale in Orlando, FL in 2019. I talked to the seller a few times and we couldn’t agree on a price. I finally called and said I’m on my way with my trailer to get it and he told me he had sold it. I figured it wasn’t mean to be and let it go. A year later, a friend told me to look on Craiglist in Panama City, FL and there it was for sale at a price that was lower than what I had offer the first time. I brought it and started restoring it. It had been lowered some and the frame was done, but it was in pieces, and hotrod black. There was very little body work to be done, but the hood was rusted, and the interior was trashed. It had a lot of factory option, which made it hard to find some of the parts and colors that it came with. The interior was XMD4, I had the original dash pad in the original color and that was it. I found a set of OEM bed panels in the correct color, and had some dye made in the correct color. The drive line is original rear with Ride Tech 4 link and a 4.11 gear with posit track, QA1 front double adjustable front shock, and ride tech coil over in the rear. Motor GM 485 HP crate motor with Holley terminator X Max controller and a 4L65E transmission, with a FTI Billet 3000 stall speed converter. Long tube header and 2 1/2 exhaust, with three chamber mufflers. The wheels are 20 X 8 fronts and 20 X 10.5 rears USMAG Santa Cruz, with 255/40R/20 on the front and 315/35R/20 on the rear. Wilwood front and rear. All new brake and fuel lines. Vintage air, Dakota digital, and Bluetooth touch screen stereo. Front seat are 2012 Cadillac CTX cover in original colors, rears are third row 2005 Cadillac Escalade seats cover in original color. The glass is all new except for rear side windows. The paint is the 25-Mariner blue with the 10-white painted by Perfection Collision in Ocala FL. I started the restoration process in 2019 and finished it this year. The journey was a long one due to me coming down with agent orange which I got in Vietnam in the 60’s when I was in the country. I am a 27-year retired Navy and a 100% disabled Veteran. A lot of my friends got together to help finish the blazer before I returned to South Carolina from Florida to be near my son to help my wife and I get along with life.
